How to create RSS feeds out of submitted links?
Q. I want to create a RSS feed of "Editor's Picks" - articles I find from around the web. I want to then submit these articles into a web application, and then get a RSS feed of this content. I know this is possible using Delicious, but I was wondering if there was any other solution out there you would recommend? Maybe allowing me to edit titles/descriptions & sort order?

How do I get an RSS feed of questions I answered on Yahoo answers?
Q. This question trips up all the search engines. People have asked this before but the most recent response I found ("it can't be done") was 3 years ago. Maybe that's changed? All I want to do is get an RSS feed of the questions I answered on here. Can it be done now? Thanks.

A. Sorry, but that seems to be impossible. There IS an RSS feed on your profile page -- but that is for your questions, not your answers. There is an AP on the Yahoo Developers page: but, again, it is for questions, not answers.

How to convert links on a webpage to RSS and have delivered to my email?
Q. Can anyone recommend free web pages that will allow me to to convert a specific part of a website (like the articles link's on a company's Press Release site) to RSS, that will also "host" this RSS feed, and a service that would send the results of this feed to my in box? Unfortunately, feed burner now only allows you to enter the RSS address. It won't create the feed for you, since google acquired it.

A. In Safari Preferences>Security, uncheck the "fraudulent site" option. Quit Safari. Then go to the Apple Menu>System Preferences>Network. Click on your internet connection - either Ethernet or Airport, then "advanced". In the DNS panel enter on separate lines the following OpenDNS codes: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Select "OK", then "apply". These codes have built in anti-phishing protection. In the Network panel, if Ethernet or Airport (whichever you use) is not at the top of the list, click on the "gear icon" at the left bottom. Select "set service order". When the help box opens drag your connection type to the top of the list. Select "apply" when complete. Restart Safari. Go to Safari Preferences>Security>Show Cookies. In… [cont.]

Where can I get rss feeds that display only the scores of my favorite teams?
Q. I want scores on my laptop from rss feeds that can automatically show my favorite mlb, nfl, and nba scores etc. Where can I get this?
Asked by Joey - Fri May 29 11:44:52 2009 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. There's no central registry of RSS feeds - you're just going to have to search relevant sites to see if they offer feeds. (About the closest I know would be news sites - your local paper or radio station or a site like CNN - but that's not just the scores you choose, it's all the news. Maybe pick up a CNN feed on your own site, scrape it and feed the scores you want.)

Q. What is an RSS feed and what is the advantage of adding them/it to a web/blog page?
Asked by Glynn S - Wed Jul 15 09:44:15 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". What it basically does is push your new postings/page content out to subscribers, rather than them having to go to your site to look and see if there are any updates. Visitors subscribe to your feed using RSS aggregator software, of which there are dozens available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It's a great tool to make sure that your readers receive all updates you make, and you are not waiting for them to revisit the site for new content. The trick is convincing them to subscribe! That's where quality content comes in.

How do I subscribe to podcasts that don't show an ITUNES option? Is the RSS feed an option?
Q. Is the RSS feed just a link to the page or is it a way to subscribe to the podcast. I want to be able to just synch my iphone and get new episodes but some podcasts don't offer the itunes subscribe option.

A. There are a couple of ways. Sometimes you can drag the RSS button into your itunes window and it will grab it. Or you can right-click on the RSS button, save the URL, go into itunes, click "advanced">>> "subscribe to podcast" and paste the URL there. .

Asked by daxxxxxxxxx - Fri Jul 24 10:18:09 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This person's article has a nice list of some of the top RSS feed directories. What I did to choose the best from this list is enter the URL in websiteoutlook.com to get an idea of how many people actually visit the site and how many backlinks are coming into the directory. Some (like feedfury.com) have a ton of RSS links but very few backlinks so it may not be as reputable as others. Among those, I think plazoo.com and syndic8.com were the best RSS directories.

A. It sounds like you want to display an RSS feed within your HTML website. The easiest/best way to do this is to use RSS2HTML a free PHP script. This means that you can retain the complete control of the HTML layout (using templates) and make it match your existing design. Additionally using PHP rather than JavaScript will mean that search engine spiders can "spider" the contents of the RSS feeds. Additional details and a free rss2html download is available at: Additional information and other options for displaying RSS feeds can be found at:
